This month started out fine, but midway through, the Bar Review course started up--horrid--I had no idea what I was getting myself into.

When people praise a poem or a picture I can't understand, I always suspect they're lying.

A friend and I were having a discussion about feudal economics.  He said that as a city grew larger it would generate more and more profits for its lord, according to Keynesian economic theory.  However, I maintained that this is not necessarily the case since Keynesian economics does not apply in a top-down economy like feudalism but only in economies organized from the bottom-up as we have today.  Consequently, even though a city grew larger its profits would remain roughly the same.

Best literary image I've read in while:  "Evan stuck out his chest and wiggled like a puppy massaging itself on a nubbly rug."  Ok, so it loses a bit when read out of context, but that's just something you're going to have to deal with.  (Incidentally, that was from the short story "The Nice Restaurant" by Mary Gaitskill.)

I'd like to wish a big ol' happy longest day of the year to all the pagans out there.  Have fun with the nude dancing around bonfires; go easy on the St. John's Wort.

Well, friends, I am a lawyer--a lawyer not licensed to practice in any state but a lawyer, nonetheless.  The license bit is why I'm putting myself through a grueling Bar review course right now.  It's from 8:30am to 5:00pm every day, six days a week for three weeks; then I have two weeks to study for the Bar on my own before taking it July 27-28.  This is BRUTAL.

Heh, heh.  The Japanese idiom for noise is the idiom for woman repeated three times.

Ok, I have a grammatical dilemma:  should one put one or two spaces after a colon?  I was taught to use two spaces, but MS Word says to use one space.  So, my friends, what is your counsel?

In "Sleepless In Seattle," Rosie O'Donnell says to Meg Ryan that her problem is she doesn't want to be in love--she wants to be in love in a movie.  But you know, everyone wants that.  And you know what else?  Being in love is like being in love in a movie.

I don't know how to say good-bye to some people.
