Well, this month was pretty good.  I finished the law student phase of my life, moved out of my apartment, saw my little sister off to Taylor University, and did a lot of nothing, which was very nice for a change.

Sarah is at Taylor, and I am not.  I had heard a rumor that "The Hurl," a hideous sculpture on display in a very public location outside at Taylor, had to be demolished.  However, it turned out that "The Flexing of Florida," an equally repulsive piece but much less prominent, got the ax instead.  I suspect this "artwork" was actually donated to the school as a joke--the art department doesn't even study them!

Today, my family and I will take my youngest sister, Sarah, to Taylor University where she will be starting as a freshman.  It is sad for the whole family, especially for Mom since Sarah is the baby of the family, but we all realize that she is going to a better place--a last remnant of Eden on this fallen earth.  The best years of my life so far have been at Taylor (what--you were expecting me to say law school?), and I am very excited that my sister now has the opportunity to experience it for herself.

I think it is important for our national leaders (President, Congress) to have some, even minimal, experience in the military.  They command the most powerful armed forces in the world, and they should have an inkling of the lives involved, so they realize they're not simply playing with toy soldiers.

Well, I've certainly been busy, catching up on all my important slacking (hence the late update).  I have important things to get done (most notably in the job department), but I feel I deserve this break, or, at least, I am taking this break because I can.  I'm happy for all you who have jobs, and I'm happier for myself who does not.

Yesterday I moved out of my apartment, and I miss it already.  Currently I face a very uncertain future, and I am not likely to be put upon any paths until September 24--you all know what happens then.

Tomorrow I will take the final test, God willing, of my law school career.  I feel exceedingly ambivalent about the whole situation.

Human governance is not possible without human judgment.  We cannot write a law to cover every eventuality.  In our zeal to do so, we have created laws that are absurd in their length and seemingly without common sense in their applicaton.  Our motives were pure--eliminate subjectivity.  But humans are diverse and irrational, and often our rational laws do not allow for that.  We are a government of law, but the law must be applied to humans by humans.  There must be room for common sense.

I enjoyed a delicious supper of moussaka and dolmathes with tzanziki sauce.  Kudos to you if you know what that is, and I'll be even more impressed if you've had it.

Yikes, The Blair Witch Project is scary!!!  (And doing incredibly well--it's already grossed over $30 million, and it only cost $30,000 to make!)

You know, getting my professional fireworks license is going to be harder than I thought.

"A Radically Condensed History of Postindustrial Life:  She laughed extremely hard, hoping to be liked. Then each drove home alone, staring straight ahead, with the very same twist to their faces."
